Hay Fever Tablets
Overview
Allergies affect between 10 and 30% of adults and around 40% of children. Allergy symptoms can vary dramatically in severity, from a runny nose to a fever to potentially fatal anaphylactic shock. While most allergies cause mild symptoms, they can still be troublesome and should be managed effectively. The most common allergy symptoms are:
- Sneezing or a blocked nose
- Itchy, watery eyes
- Rash
- Swelling of the lips or tongue
- Stomach pain or sickness
- Dry skin
- Wheezing or a cough
Allergies are very common, and there is some evidence that the prevalence of allergies is increasing.
What Causes Allergies?
Allergies occur when the immune system mistakes a non-harmful substance (such as pollen) for something dangerous. It then attacks the substance. In an effort to get rid of the allergen, the body releases histamines. These can bind to receptors in the body, causing the various allergic reactions.
Allergies can cause many different symptoms, due to the variety of allergens and the parts of the body which can come into contact with allergens. Hay fever (a reaction to pollen) is one of the most common allergies. This is most prevalent in the Spring and Summer, when the pollen count is highest.
Dealing With Allergies
Due to the variety of allergens and reactions, there are many different allergy treatments available. Creams can help with skin allergies such as rashes, as well as soothing insect bites or stings. Eye drops can help swollen or itchy eyes, while a range of pills or tablets can help relieve many allergy symptoms.
Nasal sprays can bring instant relief if an allergy is causing a blocked nose. There are also specially-formulated children’s allergy relief which are less likely to cause drowsiness. At Rightdose, we supply medication for a wide variety of allergies, helping you to enjoy life to the full.
